UltraLite Differential Housing Kit for Stock Traxxas® Gears
The stock Maxx differential gears have evolved over the years and are surprisingly durable when properly set up. Unfortunately, the same cannot always be said for the differential housings.
Under high loads, plastic differential cases can flex, allowing the ring and pinion gears to separate. Once gear mesh is compromised, the pinion can skip teeth and rapid gear failure often follows. Some aftermarket housings solve the flex issue but introduce significant weight penalties while still failing to address bearing load capacity.
The UltraLite Differential Housing Kit was developed to solve these problems while providing a future upgrade path to the SuperMaxx 7.5 Differential System.
This kit allows you to run your existing stock Traxxas® gears in the same UltraLite housing used by the SuperMaxx 7.5 differential system, giving you increased strength today and the option to upgrade to full 7.5 gears later without replacing the housings.

Premium Construction
Each UltraLite housing is precision machined from premium 7075-T6 aircraft aluminum and polished to a high-luster finish.
The housing incorporates hardened steel Helicoil inserts in the mounting holes, providing threads that are exceptionally durable and highly resistant to stripping.
Massive Bearing Upgrade
One of the key advantages of the UltraLite system is its use of significantly larger bearings.
These bearings provide more than twice the load-carrying capacity of the stock bearings, helping to withstand the loads generated by today’s high-power engines and brushless systems while improving durability and service life.
Rubber-sealed bearings are used throughout the kit for maximum contamination resistance and long-term reliability.
Lightweight Design
Despite being machined from billet aluminum, the UltraLite housings weigh only about 10 grams more than the stock plastic cases.
Even when equipped with larger bearings and upgraded differential components, the total weight increase remains modest compared to many conventional aluminum differential systems, while offering significantly greater strength and versatility.
Future-Proof Upgrade Path
One of the biggest advantages of the UltraLite system is flexibility.
You can install the housings today using your existing stock gears or compatible aftermarket gearsets. If you later decide to upgrade to the SuperMaxx 7.5 Differential System, the same UltraLite housings can be reused, minimizing future upgrade costs.
Installation Notes
Installation requires:
- Premium quality grease
- Blue thread-locking compound (Loctite®)
These items are not included.
Detailed setup instructions are included. As with any precision differential assembly, proper gear setup and shimming are essential for optimum performance and long service life.
