the bottles are a local brew, quite acidic
We are on foot that day as the weather is making a valiant attempt to drown us.

I remember watching on the Discovery channel the process and all the testing that went into the bike to make it perfect.. It was amazing how many different tests and parts, like motors, they used to make it pefect.. They even spent awhile picking out the name as the had hundreds to choose from..

it's a nice bike robin. I like it. It's just not a true harley in my opinion.(that is a v-rod right?)

LOL, and what makes you say that? Because it's not leaking oil, broken down on the side of the road? Or because it's not a slow fat vibrator that shakes itself and anything near it apart?

This 'non true' HD mentality amuses the heck out of me. Makes me laugh.

    Have you ridden a V-Rod?
If you have a valid Mtc license most dealers have a demo.
Once you ride one, your opinion will change, I can nearly guarantee it.

Everywhere it goes, it gathers a crowd. There can be 100 'true' HD's, lots of tricked out ones, and everyone is gather's around mine asking questions ohhh and ahhh ing.

I'm not arguing with you, but the v-rod seems to new looking to me. Notice I said LOOKING. I just don't think it's got the classic look that harleys do, it's more futuristic. BTW, my dad's harley, doesn't leak oil or break down at all, yea, it vibrates, but that's cause it's got a thing called, POWER!!! He's got a heritage softail classic. I like the v-rod, but it seems more of a jap bike to me. It's a nice piece o' work though.

It vibrates because the cam timing and the crank balancing are to MAKE it vibrate, it would make a lot more power if it were set up to make power, not noise and vibration. That is what they did with the V-rod

It's still nothing close to a crotch rocket, though. I think the v-rod's cool IMO.

Recently when HD kicked off there big celebration here in Portland, I heard that 45% of all Harleys ever produced are still on the road today. Thats right, the other 55% percent made it home without breaking down. LOL

I find it really funny that peeps that like old school HD's don't like the V-Rod and vis-versa.

Personally, IMHO, The V-Rod is the only HD that is worth buying soley (sp?) on its own merits. It REALLY is an engineering masterpiece as opposed to the old school HD's that sell basically cause there REALLY cool and offer little else, at least from a design and engineering standpoint. Not trying to flame on old school Harleys, there just not my thing.

HD comes to GV every year and lets peeps ride each bike.

For several years I attended, never found one I liked. Dyna was the closest, but the poking in the knee w/ aircleaner, burning ankle when trying to put kickstand down and puny rear tire just couldn't get me to part with $18k+

Then one day I saw the v-rod on the net, next day went down to HD and took a test ride. Was gone two hours. Thought they were going to kill me, they were fine.

A year later I bought one. A year+ after that and I'm still happy w/ it and I'm a very demanding consumer.

The V-Rod is an awsome machine.
It'll hang with the CRs in the twisties (if you have the stones)
Go home, swap the seat and take the GF, Cat & luggage puttering thru the mtns.

No other machine can do that.

    If other's don't like my bike, I couldn't give a rat's petout.
When they pony up the cash and pay the bills, then I'll listen.
While I pay the bill, I'm riding what I like and couldn't possibly care less what others think of it if I tried.

Not that I mind when others oogle it, but that's not why I bought it.

well, you know, we've all got our own opinion. I am honestly trully sorry that I kinda snotty remarked that the v-rod isn't a true harley. It is cause it was made by harley, but it just doesn't have the classic look, and I guess the classic look is what I like. I understand that you and I have different opinions on bikes. I guess that I had a hard time understanding that at that time. Sorry.
