Took 2nd in a watered down A-main on Sunday. Only my second outing with the 8ight, first buggy i've ever drove. I let some friends drive it and their remarks were what you read, it turns like crazy and it's like a rocket. They thought it was a little twitchy as did I. The problem wasn't with the car it was my expo setting that I didn't change from running my ST-R. Turned it down and it was dialed.
Love this thing, can't wait for the 8T.

the 8ight seems to loose its "twitchyness" after the drivetrain breaks in, but then again I never really found mine to be twitchy. just don't drive it like a "punched" mad man or it will bite you back!

Last night I had my best qual. runs. I'm slowly getting more comfortable with the buggy and becoming more consistent with it. But the main wasn't so good. I was nursing a slipping clutch, and ended up breaking a steering tie rod end about 3 min in to it. I also broke a shock stand-off at the end of my 2nd qual. run. A friend broke, of all things a spindle carrier on his, he always seems to be breaking something, might have something to do with his driving style. :P.

For the shock standoffs Peter from TKO told me to take my Dremel and lightly chamfer the hole in the shock tower than the standoff goes threw. Its very sharp there and offers a breaking point on the standoff after a few impacts. I broke 2 standoffs within the first 2 weekends of running the car, after doing that simple chamfer on the tower I haven't snapped a standoff yet![]()
Glad your enjoying the car. Keep us posted on how you do![]()

I only broke a shock stand off and two steering rod ends. One of the rod ends wasn't my fault though.
Finally got my 8ight all wrapped and ready for the Canadian Winter Nats on March 1st 8-) Actually still need to rebuild the shocks and then I'm done my rebuild.
Not going to take the credit for these springs that I installed between the calipers. Casey Peck told me about these springs and they fit perfectly!
Also installed a new HT Batts Lipo in my car. Been running the 1500 series HT Batts for a couple years now and there great! I get about 2 hours 15 minutes run time with that battery!!! 8-) SO I decided to lighten up my car by another ounce by running the HT Batts 950 battery. I figure I'm still good for 1 hour 15 minutes run time wich is more than enough for any main ;-) I took some pics of the weight saving of these Lipo Batts over a conventional 1100 battery back.
Looking forward to finally running my car on some real dirt!! I'll be spending the next week glueing tires and packing everything up.
I'm really happy with the way Maurizio at Maugrafix matched up my decals to my paint scheme, he did a great job! Thanks Mau!!!!!
Anybody see what I picked up on Saturday from the border?![]()
I also installed a HT Batt Lipo in my starter box, this thing weighs nothing now and has mega "jam" for turning over the tightest of engines! Thanks Wayner for helping me out with the install![]()

3 gallon on it now in a 2 months, not bad for the winter considering I'm getting 10-12 minutes a tank at the track I'm at. So LOTS of track time! 1 1/2 weeks and counting till the big race! I'm excited to say the least!!Originally Posted by sbess

7lb buggy....nice. Specs indicate the 8ight-T is suppose to be about a 1/2lb lighter than the 5T ?
