    VW ownage

Having watched this vid, I think I'll be getting back into VW's after a 13 yr hiatus.....Killer vid of a micro bus spanking a Porsche and an Aston Martin on the track.

Is it just me, or did it seem like the GT3 and the DB9 weren't really pushing their cars to the limit at all?

It sounded that way to me too Vill.I had a "66" Bug for my first in "77" I thought it was the cats meow. Till I got jumping it and snapped the front end out from under it. Best dam beater I had. Last for ever "if you don't jump it" My friend had a bus and cut it in half shortened it by 3 feet quite a wheely machine.

Well you can tell how high the thing revs when he was on the straight....it didn't seem like I heard that whine when he was shifting on the infield. Maybe it's just me. The 996 GT3 tops out at 190MPH....sure didn't seem like that at the end of the straight.

Regardless...that Microbus has some serious cojones.

Nice vids. Im a little bit of a VW fan myself. My buddy has a VR6 Carrado. Very fun to drive! Currently in my Auto Body class we are restoring an old VW truck(truck version of the bus) Heres a pic of the rust bucket....

That was taken at around Nov of 05. We've done a lot more work to it. I'd say about another 4 months and it will start getting primer on it. Engine is going in after Xmas break. Its turbo charged, 260HP. PLus were throwin some nitrous in, my shop teacher hasnt decided on what size nozel yet. When he uploads newer pics ill post them.

He drew this up on his computer, it will look someting like that. Hes definatly going with a 2 tone paint job, but not sure what color he wants to go with the white.

Heres a vid of the episoid of monster garage when they built the drag beetle...

    Nice single cab project.

The monster garage project was wicked, I recorded that episode + I bought a VW mag with the build up pics.

    here is what i saw..

the porsche took a bad line, and got caught behind the slower martin. the bus passed em both. pay close attention though. the porsche, i feel, with a better driver, would have passed the bus. he was slowly gaining on him. aerodynamics come into play there. you could tell he was going to catch him anyhow. could tell as the bus was getting closer at the end of the video..

but, that bus is definitely, waaay bad to the bone. would love to see the suspension under it. thats where it was at. not so much the engine. could care less about the motor. high hp vw engines are a dime a dozen...

That's not your average SoCal Hi horsepower V dub 4 banger dude, that bus is being powered by a 500hp Porsche Turbo engine.

Here's a small pic of the donor car

http://www.race-taxi.ch/ has all the build up pics. Click on " Projekt " and it takes you too the gallery.

oops. my bad. a vdub motor with 2 extra cylinders!
saw it was a porsche motor. i was just being a butt head. i do like them cars. could never afford one, but its always nice to dream...

would still like to seee the suspension they had on that bus...

lets face it, thats where it was at. all the hp in the world would never get that bus anywhere on a track, without a trick setup underneath it..

It looked like they took the suspension, breaks, wheels/tires, engine and tranny all out and put it in the bus from the build up pictures. Just added some shocks better for racing.
From the looks of it, that is.
