On July 4, 1776, a handful of courageous men declared that liberty was worth any cost. They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor so that generations they would never meet could live in freedom.
The United States of America has never been perfect, but its promise has always been extraordinary. For 250 years, that promise has endured through the sacrifices of brave men and women who believed that freedom is worth defending.
Today, we honor our Founding Fathers, the patriots who secured our independence, and every service member, veteran, first responder, and citizen who has helped preserve the blessings of liberty. Their courage, sacrifice, and devotion remind us that freedom is never free—it is earned, protected, and passed from one generation to the next.
I am deeply grateful to live under the Stars and Stripes, and I pray that we never forget the price paid for the liberties we so often take for granted. May we continue to cherish this great nation, honor those who came before us, and leave an even stronger America for those who come after us.
